What happened:

  • Anthropic recently launched Claude for Creative Work, a set of nine connectors that wire Claude directly into Adobe, Blender, Ableton, Splice, SketchUp, Resolume Arena, Resolume Wire, Autodesk Fusion, and Affinity by Canva. They are free across every Claude plan, including the free tier.

  • The Adobe connector covers 50-plus tools across Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator, Firefly, Express, Lightroom, InDesign, and Stock.

  • It is Anthropic's clearest move yet to take its agent beyond coding and into the apps creatives already work in, following Cowork and Claude Design.

Zoom out: Adobe debuted its own agentic AI platform CX Enterprise the same week, with Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, and Amazon as named partners. Loni Stark, Adobe's VP of strategy and product, told Marketing Brew the company has seen "strong adoption of the Model Context Protocol," the open standard the Claude connectors run on, and is building related products around it. The connector layer is converging across vendors faster than the AI standalone apps competing on top of it.

What they're saying: Anthropic framed the launch as additive rather than replacement. "Claude can't replace taste or imagination, but it can open up new ways of working," Greg Feingold of Anthropic, who worked on the launch, wrote on LinkedIn. "AI can also help shoulder the parts of the creative process that eat up time by handling repetitive tasks and eliminating manual toil."

Yes, but: Most ad buyers are still working out what to do with agentic AI of any kind. The IAB's 2026 Outlook Study, based on more than 200 brands and agency buyers, found 66% are focused on agentic AI for ad buying and campaign execution, but 40% named understanding how to use it as one of their top concerns for the year.

Looking ahead: Whether the connector model becomes the default for performance creative teams running paid ads on Meta and Google, or whether specialist tools like Pencil, Omneky, and Creatify hold the workflow that performance teams actually buy.
